We had our first table read on September 20th, 2015. This was the first and only time we used paper scripts - we now do everything off iPads. It's more eco-friendly and we don't have to worry about shuffling pages during recording.
A slightly blurry photo of recording episode 3.
My parents live in an old house in New York with lots of antiques and knick-knacks. When I was there a month before our first episode aired, I went around and recorded most of our foley. The clock in Dr. Bright's office is the grandfather clock in my parents' front hall.
I broke out my old mini-keyboard to compose the theme. This was maybe a week before we aired our first episode and I wrote the theme in about 20 minutes. It turned out okay, I think.
(Spoilers for Season 2) This was my initial map for the first half of season two - written somewhere in the middle of season one production. I map all episode arcs this way - buying a blackboard was the best investment I made last year. Things mostly stuck to this layout, though certain details changed. For instance, The AM was initially called The ARC (Atypical Registration Committee) but was changed because of a real organization with the same initials.
My sister and brother-in-law designed both the t-shirt and sticker and gave them to me for Christmas. Pretty much the coolest gift anyone has ever given me.
I gave Ian (Agent Green) scripts for episode 17a and 19 and he was ready to record two days later. It's a tricky character and he jumped right in and nailed it. He and Julia play off each other in a way that's really wonderful.
Taking a break in between takes in our very high-tech studio.
Julia snapped a photo as we recorded Episode 23.
Julia catches the moment of me telling her not to post these photos anywhere for fear of spoiling the plot. You guys can keep a secret, though.
(Almost) the whole cast together! All we're missing is Ian McQuown, who plays Agent Green. The voices of, from left to the right: Mark, Adam, Caleb, Dr. Bright, Damien, Sam, Chloe, and new character!
Alex Marshall-Brown and I having some fun with the self-timer.
And thus begins treating my camera as a photo booth.
